The Word: Onstage
The Word has been performed on multiple stages starting at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Southampton, PA in 1995. The Word has enthralled audiences all over the tri-county area. In 2000 the new millennium bought with it a revival of The Word. The 2000 tour included shows at locations from St. Albert the Great in Huntington Valley to the music pier in Ocean City, NJ. In addition, St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Richboro and St. Andrew Parish in Newtown hosted the cast of The Word for four performances each. The show returned in November 2004 (11/11/04 to be exact) and this new cast took the show from St. Vincent de Paul in Richboro to St. Andrew’s in Newtown and to St. Martin’s in Philadelphia in May 2005.
The 23 original songs take the audience through a brief history of the Old Testament through some exciting and energy-driven John the Baptizer moments and finally to the unexpected entrance of Jesus in a Reggae Baptism, “Washing Up.” With the cast now in full swing, the music and scenes flow through different styles, including rock, a capella doo-wop, funk, gospel, folk, country, Motown, and African influenced songs. The harmonies are full, the guitar rifs are electric, the drums thunder, and singers croon, belt, and sweetly resonate the treasured messages of Jesus’ love
and salvation.
This is a great show for young and old alike to experience their faith, rejoice, and walk away with a renewed sense of spirit and purpose. In other words, The Word makes it so easy to...
